Chamique Holdsclaw is one of the most accomplished athletes in women’s basketball. She grew up in Queens, New York, and gained fame at the University of Tennessee with Coach Pat Summitt and was hailed as the “female Michael Jordan.” Chamique led the Lady Vols to three straight NCAA championships. In 1999, she was the No. 1 pick in the WNBA Draft. She is also a six-time WNBA All-Star and an Olympic gold medalist.
Destined for a spectacular professional career, until her long-suppressed battle with mental disorders emerged to derail her career and threaten her life. Chamique's story goes beyond her achievements.
Chamique will share her personal story of resilience as well as a message about the importance of self-care, prioritizing mental health, asking for help and knowing that you are not alone.
Chamique will sign copies of her book, Breaking Through: Beating the Odds Shot after Shot, after her presentation.
